Commis chef required for fantastic pub in Woodstock, Oxfordshire

A really exciting opportunity to join the team throughout the high season at an amazing pub company.

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in a professional kitchen environment, through our high season, with the possibility for extension. The position is paid hourly, with live-in accommodation available for the right candidate.

Job Type: Full time, fixed term
Salary: £11 – 13 per hour + plus service charge (approx £3 – 4 per hour)

Personal attributes:

• Excellent preperation skills
• Understanding of produce and ingredients
• Experience with multi tasking the many vital kitchen requirements
• Knowledge of EHO requirements to top standards
• Ability to work under and take direction from the Head Chef

Key responsibilities:

• Reliable pair of hands
• Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
• Support the cooking process, ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing, sanitising, and storing utensils and ingredients
• Follow food safety protocols and hygiene regulations at all times
• Help with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies as needed
• Support senior chefs during service periods, ensuring smooth operation of the kitchen
• Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment and uphold professional standards

Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key
• Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends if required
• A genuine interest in culinary arts and developing a career within hospitality
• Willingness to live on-site if offered live-in accommodation
